These little bronze sculptures are taliswomen, they give courage and self-confidence to all women on this planet, they are amazones, women who can withstand the male stronghold. Allthough they are small they take the space they need, and they will grow as their confidence grows, it’s just a matter of time.

In 2019 I built a larger version of one of the Amazones for an outdoor exhibition of Bergarde Galleries in the nearby nature park Het Buitenland, Heerjansdam (near Rotterdam). Standing on a plastered pyramide of strawbales she overlooks the willow jungle.  She connects the ancient woman with the modern woman. From here she is exposing dignity and independence.
